Some Committee members were in Thakarki village in October and began the work to convert the shamlaat land adjacent to the government school into a sports ground for community use. The motion was approved at the Annual General Meeting in September by the TTT membership and agreed by the village Panchayat. Manjit Singh has been appointed as the project leader and will oversee the construction.

The plan will be in 2 stages.
Stage 1: Prepare the ground by removing all debris, adding topsoil and levelling. New grass will then be planted. Build a low perimeter boundary wall, school and canal side. Included in the plan is to provide a 200 metre running track as part of the ground. The boundary to the fields will be concrete posts with barbed wire barriers until the land is measured accurately. Installation of an irrigation system and the planting of trees and shrubs at the perimeter on two -three sides. The irrigation system will be drawn from the village water supply, this was verbally approved by Sarpanch Sahib. Time scale for stage 1 is approximately 3 – 6 months.
Stage 2: This has yet to be budgeted for and finalised but will allow provision for seating and other facilities.
We will be updating as work progresses.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to the project please contact us on email: thethakarkitrust@gmail.com for details. All members are reminded that subscriptions for this year were due from 1st October 2017. The committee would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
